William “David” Sherwood, age 62, passed peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, January
14th, 2024. David was born in South Bend, Indiana on September 3rd, 1961 to Carolyn (Hagan)
Sherwood and the late Billy Sherwood and was raised in Argos, Indiana. He was a graduate of
Argos High School with the class of 1980. David attended Ancilla College with a Degree in
Business, Word of Life Bible Institute, Liberty University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in
Church Ministry/Biblical Studies, and then received his Master’s of Pastoral Counseling from
Andersonville Theological Seminary. All in pursuing his love for the Lord and the body of Christ,
While attending Word of Life, David met what became his best friend and wife, Tamara. David
and Tamara reached many individuals through their faithful work in the local church. He had the
privilege to serve as a Youth Pastor at Sunrise Chapel in Plymouth, Indiana; Associate Pastor at
Grace E. Free Church in Colville, Washington; and was the Senior Pastor at New Life
Community Church for 15 years in Lake Lorelei Ohio. His greatest passion was to tell others
about the saving grace of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. David had a passion to
preach/teach the gospel. During this pursuit, they raised four children and remained married for
over 34 years.
David was a safe place for all who needed one, a pastor, counselor, and friend, a source of
knowledge of the Word of God, a loyal husband, father and friend, and a devoted follower of
David will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Tamara
(Crouse) Sherwood; children, Caleb (Sarah )Sherwood, Ashley (Dalton) Zebrak, Alexandria
(Devin) Goff, and Andrae Sherwood. He is predeceased by his mother, Carolyn Sherwood;
siblings, Sherry (Robert) Herr, Michael (Kathleen) Sherwood, Douglas (Annette) Sherwood,
Phillip Sherwood, Nancy (Russell) Hulse, grandsons Judah and Wells Sherwood, along with
many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother: Jeffrey Sherwood.
The Celebration of Life Service will be conducted by Cory Fehr and Stephen Wilhelm at
Riverview Community Church, 3780 State Road 110, Tippecanoe, Indiana at 2:00pm on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024; reception to follow in the church fellowship hall.
