Sandra Sue (Johnston) Gibbons, 71 of Rochester, Indiana passed away Wednesday December 16, 2020 at 11:33 p.m. at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana following a brief illness. On December 19, 1948 near Kewanna, Indiana in rural Wayne Township, Fulton County, Indiana she was born to Donald Leo Johnston and Nancy Ruth (Crabb) Johnston. Sandra lived in Rochester, Indiana for the past 21 years; having lived in Fulton, Indiana prior to that.
On September 5, 1970 she married Dale Ray Gibbons at the Santa Anna United Methodist Church in Argos, Indiana and together they shared the next 29 years before Dale's passing on July 30, 1999.
Sandra was a seamstress having worked for Levi Strauss & Company in San Angelo, Texas and Hart/Schaffner/Marx in Rochester, Indiana.
She was a member of the First Christian Church, Rochester, Indiana. Sandra was a graduate of Star City High School with the class of 1966.
Sandra is survived by her Daughters – Stefanie Dillingham and Stacy Gibbons, both of Rochester, Indiana
4 Grandchildren – Cole, Jacob, Krista, and Korigan
Siblings – Larry Johnston of Conroe, Texas; Dennis Johnston and wife Ann of Kokomo, Indiana; Harold Johnston of Star City, Indiana; Janet Harshman and husband Tim of Logansport, Indiana; Terry Johnston and wife Linda of Culver, Indiana; Linda Dodson of Rensselaer, Indiana; Wanda Miller and Tom of Macy, Indiana; James Johnston and wife Sandra of Winamac, Indiana; Wilma Cole and husband Richard of Plymouth, Indiana; Edna Parks of Rensselaer, Indiana. Brother-in-Law – Robert Farrer of Logansport, Indiana.
She is preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; Brother – Garry Johnston; and Sister – Phyllis Farrer
Graveside Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday December 22, 2020 at 2:30 p.m. at the Maxinkuckee IOOF Cemetery at Poplar Grove, 15315 State Road 10, Culver, Indiana with Rev. Mike Van Heyningen of the First Christian Church, Rochester, Indiana with burial to follow.
