Mary Ellen (Wieringa) Guyse

Mary Ellen (Wieringa) Guyse, 70 of Syracuse, Indiana passed away September 16, 2023, at 7:43 p.m. at her residence. On December 24, 1952, in Watseka, Illinois she was born to William Lawrence Wieringa and Nita Jean (Wedgebury) Wieringa. Mary lived in Syracuse since 2000 having lived in the Argos community prior.

On November 17, 1989, she married Michael “Mike” Guyse and together they shared the next 34 years.

Mary worked as a Dispatcher with the Marshall County Sheriff Department and Culver Police Department. She worked as a bookkeeper for Glenn’s Wrecker Service, Warsaw, Indiana.  

She was a member of the Argos Legion Axillary, Argos, Indiana, and was a graduate of Culver High School with the class of 1971.

Mary is survived by her Husband – Mike Guyse of Syracuse, Indiana

Step-Son – Eric Guyse and wife Angel of Rochester, Indiana; and Patrick Guyse of Maryland.

Sister – Connie James and husband Ron of Ora, Indiana

Brother – Chuck Wieringa and wife Susie of Knox, Indiana

Sister-in-Law – Cindy Wieringa of Knox, Indiana  

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Brothers – Butch (William) Wieringa and Larry Wieringa

Friends may visit with the family on Saturday September 23, 2023, from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the Earl-Grossman Funeral Home, 208 N. Michigan St., Argos, Indiana. 

Funeral Services will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Bruce Bennet of the Ora Gospel Church. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana.
